We’re often asked how much SEEN should be used to wash, condition, and style—and it’s a great question because we wouldn’t want to waste either! Although we do provide suggestions for some of our products (such as 1-2 pumps of Shampoo per wash, 2-3 pumps of Conditioner, and 2-5 drops of Magic Serum), the truth is there’s no set “dose” or “serving size” because everyone’s hair is different!
The amount of product necessary to effectively cleanse, thoroughly condition, or get the heat protection your hair needs can depend on a few factors. The first (and most obvious) is the length of your hair, because a bob or pixie requires a lot less shampoo, conditioner, and styling product than longer locks.
Your hair’s thickness also plays a role in how much product is necessary to get the job done. Fine hair feels barely there, tends to get greasy faster, and can struggle to hold volume or curl. Medium hair feels like a thread between your fingers, holds style well, and is neither too dry nor too oily. Thick hair feels coarse or strong, and appears dense, full or voluminous. It also takes longer to dry and may be more prone to frizz.
Think of it this way… It doesn’t take much conditioner to coat fine hair, but you surely need more to saturate a full head of dense hair. Mathematically speaking, this is because each strand of thick hair has more surface area than a strand of fine hair—so the thicker your hair, the more SEEN you’ll likely need.
Once you’ve taken your hair’s length and thickness into consideration, it’s time to factor in how often you wash your hair—because there’s a big difference in product usage when you wash once a week versus every day.
To help you understand how long you can expect your SEEN to last, here are replenishment estimates for different types of products based on wash frequency and hair type. Please note, this varies based on personal usage. We hope this helps you plan your replenishment accordingly!
